In with the New! (#22)

My newly redecorated room is finally finished! Because it's been a while, here's a reminder of what my room looked like just a few weeks ago.

I am absolutely thrilled with how it turned out! It's a little strange because it's so drastically different (for the first few days it felt like I was staying in a guest bedroom in someone else's house), but it's much more grown up and really starting to feel like me. However, I did want to make choices that will work for a guest bedroom, since that's how my parents will use the room after I move out. I think the room is perfect for both purposes!

I love my duvet cover (from Bed, Bath & Beyond), which was the inspiration for all of the colors of the room. I was looking for a print that was modern and colorful but not overwhelming, and I fell in love with the pattern and combination of colors in this print. I also loved that it had some black that I was able to incorporate in some of the furniture and the draperies.

I'm really happy with the furniture, which we got from IKEA (and spent approximately eight hours assembling). I found both the lamps and all the curtains at Target just the other day and bought simple black satin ribbon to use for the tie-backs.

I'm going to keep my eye out for some frames for the walls and other small decorative additions, but for now, I'm so happy with the finished product. This experience has really made me look forward to getting to decorate my own place, hopefully in the near future! Until then, I have a beautiful room to enjoy and make my own. :)
