After a wonderful Thanksgiving day with our families, Nathan and I spent Thursday night finalizing our shopping list for our very first Black Friday! I had never been out on Black Friday before (although I have worked a few at Victoria's Secret), and even though we did have things that we wanted to get on sale, I really just wanted to experience the shopping craziness that I'd only heard about before. :)
We got a few hours of sleep and arrived at Target a little before 4 a.m. We had to park pretty far away from the store - I couldn't believe how many people were there!
There was even a cart barricade in front of the entrance and police to make sure things didn't get out of hand - crazy!
Inside the store was absolute pandemonium.
But, we emerged victorious! After a little more than an hour in the store, we left with the XBox we went there for and our sanity.
The whole experience was slightly reminiscent of this hilarious SNL skit about Black Friday, though maybe not as dangerous!
Even though we were two of those nutters out at the "crack-a dawn," I really don't mind being made fun of when it's that funny. :)
After Target, we went to a bunch of other stores, including Best Buy around 6:15 a.m., which actually was not as insane as I expected it would be. We were home by 11 a.m., and after seven hours of power shopping, I was seriously in need of a nap! It was an exhausting experience, but considering that we got about half of our holiday shopping done in one day, I would say it was well worth it. :)
